Message From the Head


The Department of Textile Engineering offers four years Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering degree (Regular & Diploma) at the undergraduate level. This is one of the flagship departments established in 2003. This program extends 12 semesters (For Regular) & 10 semesters (For Diploma) and comprises a total of 176 credits (For Regular) & 153 credits (For Diploma) to produce highly skilled and technically qualified textile graduates. This degree program offers majors in Yarn Manufacturing Engineering, Fabric Manufacturing Engineering, Wet Processing Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing Engineering, and Industrial & Production Engineering. Most importantly, the Textile Engineering Department has been accredited by the professional body, IEB (The Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh) recently. It is worth mentioning that a large number of students are already enrolled in different foreign universities for post-graduate degrees and research, and many of them have already obtained their degrees from those internationally recognized universities.

The course curriculum of this program has been designed to meet the demands of various Textile and RMG industries. Students of the department are required to take some of the basic courses such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Humanities, English, and Sociology to be qualify for the core departmental courses in the respective semester accordingly. In the final semester usually (12th semester for Regular batches & 10th semester for Evening batches), they are placed in the industries for floor level Industrial Training. Apart from this, the department maintains a close and collaborative relationships with the textile and apparel industries to execute our academic programs for providing practical education to the students.
